This is actually what is happening in a game I am presently running. I’m still unsure how this happened.
Hey folks! I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate all the support I’ve been getting. I do read every comment (some of you are hilarious) and I check my rankings on TWC everyday. It makes me happy to know that y’all are enjoying the comic so far. I’d love to read more comments, and of course voting at TWC helps promote the comic, so thank you and I can’t wait to hear more from you.
Some of you may have noticed (because you found the comic via) that I am doing advertising to try and pick up more traffic to the site. I am using the funds that my current Patrons are supplying me with to do that, which is awesome. Advertising is expensive, but it’s already brought bunches of new folks to the site. I’m looking to advertise more, in the future, so that I can continue to grow the comic and eventually open an online store or something like that, where you can buy Mace’s necklace or any weird shirt designs you see in the comic, or other things. Obviously, I would like to sell copies of the comic at some point, probably after I go back over the first two chapters in the future and bring them up to snuff.
I mention advertising though, because, like I said, it does cost me money to build the comic and it’s only through the generous donations of my Patrons that I have any money to spare on that. So I just wanted to remind you folks who might drop below the main line that I could use anything you could send my way. Even a dollar a month really does help me out, and for doing so, you’ll be getting previews of every comic before they hit the site! If you feel like the comic is worth a little more to you, there are other rewards available, such as personal gag comics, and the chance for you to appear in the comic and be killed. Anything you feel like giving is a huge help and will allow me to spend more and more time doing this work for you guys and making more cool stuff for you to enjoy.
Well the LaVoice household has finally gotten a handle on its schedule so I should be able to settle into a routine of making the comic again. That’s the hard thing about making the comic. I have to be doing it almost exclusively to everything else I want to do and of course there’s just never enough hours in the day to do everything else I want to do anyways. I live in a kind of perpetual work reward loop that is very precariously balanced.
I hop onto Guild Wars 2 in the morning to grab my daily reward, and then start working on the comic. I do the sketch and then fool around on youtube to see if there is anything interesting there. Usually there isn’t, if one of my preferred content creators hasn’t put anything out. So then I change the music type I’m listening to (usually from my dubstep/ soundtrack station on Pandora to alternative or nineties rock) or put on a podcast, like Nightvale. I do the line work and base coloring all in one fell swoop generally and then send the pic to the Editor Empress for her consideration. She sends back feed back and I argue and whine for half an hour before I make a compromise with her and partly fix the image. Usually an hour later, I’ve caved to her excellent advice and actually fix the picture. If I finish the picture before Susan gets back from work, I fire up Guild Wars and play until she gets back. Then I take care of my wife and the house until it’s time to go to bed.
I guess that’s my usual schedule…
Not much in the way of news though.
I’m running two Dungeons and Dragons games and we’re finally reconvening for the first time in what I think is at least a month or two to keep playing through Hoard of the Dragon Queen. Except that I’ve changed a bunch of stuff about the adventure because my players keep being interested in silly stuff, and it’s my personal opinion that if they really want to pay so much attention to something that I’ve put a tiny amount of detail into, I might as well make it actually interesting. Not even universal solvent can dissolve the bond between curious players and a useless bauble that they have personally taken an interest into. Might as well work with it.
As we play through the game, I might start doing news posts about that, if there isn’t anything really going on with the comic or website, I guess.
Hey, for any of you who actually read these posts, give me a comment! I really do read and am interested in everything that you have to say! This is at least partially because I have to manually approve new commenters, but also because I really am interested in everything you folks have to say! And I only do the new commenter approvals because you would not believe how many spam comments I get in a week.
